Campaign
against bi-partisan support for Israel!
Petition To House of Representatives
MPSN
is involved in a petition campaign in response to the disgraceful
bi-partisan motion in support of Israel, lead by Labor Prime-Minister
Kevin Rudd, that was passed in the Parliament on March 12.
We
urge all organisations and individuals involved in Palestine Solidarity
to participate and collect as many signatures as possible.
PETITION
TO
THE HONOURABLE THE SPEAKER AND MEMBERS OF THE
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES ASSEMBLED IN PARLIAMENT:
We, as informed and concerned Australian citizens, request
that the House of Representatives takes a position on the
Palestine/Israel conflict which will promote the implementation
of United Nations General Assembly Resolutions 181 and 194
and Security Council Resolution 242.
We urge the House of Representatives to adopt a more balanced
perspective than in its 12th March 2008 motion in which
Australia wholeheartedly and uncritically endorsed the Israeli
Day of Independence. We urge the House of Representatives
to also acknowledge that Israel’s day of Independence
marks the day of the dispossession of Palestinian people
from their homeland. We also urge House of Representatives
to acknowledge the Palestinians’ continual struggle
to return to their homeland.
We
implore the House of Representatives to condemn Israel's
continued expansion of its illegal Jewish-only settlements
in the West Bank, including Arab East Jerusalem, and the
daily ritual humiliation and deaths of Palestinian people
within the Occupied Territories. |
